Nature of Work

Earning Opportunities:
Covered vs. Optional Services
Your earning opportunities are divided into two main types:
Covered Roadside Assistance Jobs
These are contracted roadside services like jump starts, lockouts, fuel deliveries, and tire changes—essentially, any service included in the member's plan. For these, the member doesn't pay you directly unless you're specifically told otherwise during dispatch.
Your Direct-Paid Services
This category covers the additional services you choose to offer. These aren't included in the member's plan, so members will pay you directly out-of-pocket. This can include lucrative services like battery installations, spare tire deliveries, mobile mechanic work, and yes, even those auto lockout CASH calls! You can find more details on these opportunities on our "Pay Scale" page.

Join us as a preferred partner and streamline your work! You'll get job alerts sent straight to your cell phone, providing all the crucial details: location, vehicle information (year/make/model), member's contact number, and the service order number (your key for easy billing).
To accept a job, just reply with your Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). After completing the service, simply submit the service order number online for quick payment. Most services are fully covered, meaning you won't need to collect payment from the member unless specifically instructed.
You're also empowered to offer additional services that aren't covered under the member's plan, like battery installations or other specialized labor you provide. This is completely optional. For instance, if you're called for a jump start and discover a more complex issue like a faulty starter, you'll still be paid for your initial service, regardless of the outcome. The member would then arrange for further assistance. If you're equipped to handle the repair yourself, feel free to quote them for the additional parts and labor.

Streamlined Service Delivery & Support
Upon accepting a service call, we require a courtesy call to the member to confirm their location and provide your Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). This brief interaction helps ensure accuracy and sets expectations. Once on-scene, you'll perform the requested service, with most calls requiring approximately five minutes of labor. Conclude each job by having the member sign the invoice.
To enhance your efficiency and protect your personal vehicle, we strongly recommend investing in a mobile jump box. This eliminates the need to use your own car's battery for jump starts. We offer comprehensive application packages, some of which include a jump box. If you already own one, our standard application package is all you'll need. Explore our package options by clicking on the "Get Started Now" tab or by clicking here.
Maximizing Your Earnings
In instances where a jump start is attempted but unsuccessful (e.g., due to a starter or alternator issue), rest assured that you will still be compensated for your service attempt. Furthermore, if you arrive to unlock a vehicle and discover the member's battery is also dead, a quick call to our dispatch center will allow us to add a jump start service to the order, resulting in double payment for that particular call. For details on the national average pay for each completed job, please refer to our dedicated "Pay" section.

Simple Services, Easy Earnings: Tire Changes and Fuel Deliveries
Don't let tire changes intimidate you; they're light-duty work! Members are required to have their own spare, and most calls are conveniently located at a home or business, reducing the need for roadside work. You always have the option to decline calls you're not comfortable with. Your job is quick: remove the flat, install the spare, and you're good to go!
Fuel deliveries are even quicker. You'll provide two gallons of fuel (the maximum covered), and these calls offer higher pay to offset your fuel expenses.
All the crucial information you'll need as a service provider is detailed in our Application Package. Read on to discover what's in store.

Future Industry Outlook

Run Roadside rescued a record-breaking number of drivers in 2024, with more battery, flat tire, and key problems than ever before.
New vehicles are loaded with advanced technology designed to keep drivers and passengers safe and on the road—not in the breakdown lane. A new study found that technology—including maintenance reminders and other safety alerts—hasn’t reduced the number of drivers stranded. Breakdowns are happening more than ever. This suggests that sometimes tech could be part of the problem.

Vehicles today are advanced more than ever, yet are still vulnerable to breakdowns. Sleek, low-profile tires are highly susceptible to damage, electronic keyless ignitions can zap battery life, and despite advanced warning systems, more than half a million drivers ran out of gas last year.
For example, vehicles fewer than five years old experienced a higher proportion of tire and key-related issues than older vehicles, incidents that have increased as automakers have started to eliminate the spare tire and adopt electronic keyless ignitions.
While the highest proportion of battery-related issues were in vehicles between six and 10 years old, newer models with keyless ignition systems caused problems as well. Keyless ignition systems can drain the battery life when keys are stored too close to the vehicle and can lock a driver out of the vehicle while the engine is still running.
4 million drivers were locked out of their vehicles last year.
And even though nearly all new vehicles are equipped with low fuel warning alerts and range estimations, a higher proportion of drivers are using these systems to push the limits between fuel ups.
